Do You Know How to…?
How to Dismiss Your Jr./Sr. High School Student
Dear Jr./Sr. High School parents and guardians:
We have received a number of questions regarding picking up students during the middle of the school day. We decided to refresh all our parents’ memories with our policy.
DISMISSING STUDENT EARLY FROM SCHOOL
For your child’s protection and safety, a note from home is required for picking him/her up during the school day. Children will only be released from the office after proper sign out procedures have been completed. Your child's safety is always foremost, so the adult picking up the child may be asked for identification. Requests for early dismissal shall be made in writing from a parent/guardian and brought to the attendance secretary before 1st period on the day of the dismissal. Telephone or in-person requests by a parent should only be made in emergency circumstances. No student will be released to a person other than a custodial parent(s) or guardian without written permission signed by the custodial parent(s) or guardian. When students leave school early due to illness, doctor’s appointments, or any other approved reason (see note on earlier page), that time out of school shall be considered a half-day absence if the student is out of school for 2-4 periods. If the student is out of school for more than 15 minutes but less than 60 minutes, it will be considered an early dismissal.
For learn about our other policies, our handbook is a good resource and it can be found online. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to call the main office at 513.891.0010.
