Deer Park Schools Releases Quality Profile
Report Defines the Educational Value of its Schools
Deer Park Community City School District, along with nearly 70 school districts throughout Ohio, today released a comprehensive, community-oriented companion to the State’s District Report Card. Called a “Quality Profile,” the report includes additional accountability measures that are not captured by the state report card, but define a high quality education.
“Deer Park Schools is releasing a quality profile as a way to showcase our schools’ work making sure all students achieve success in character development, service learning, and college and career readiness,” said Jeff Langdon, Superintendent at Deer Park Community City School District.
A Quality Profile helps to evaluate the effectiveness of a school district beyond standardized testing and other statistical measures. The Profile is based on six categories: Academics, arts, student leadership and activities, fiscal stewardship, parent and community involvement, and student services.
Over the last several years, participating districts have surveyed their residents to determine those factors they value in their students’ education that are not being measured by the state. These conversations resulted in a more comprehensive profile that measures those education components the community considers most important.
“The Deer Park Quality Profile offers our community and the State of Ohio a window into our schools and shares with them what we already know: Deer Park places a great value on our children’s education and we want every student to excel and achieve their future goals,” said Langdon.
Now in it’s fourth year of development and being released statewide for the third time, the Quality Profile is sponsored by the Alliance for High Quality Education, a statewide education consortium that works to improve educational opportunities for all students and to represent member districts on matters of educational policy and funding.
The Deer Park Community City School District’s Quality Profile will provide the community with their first look at current information to assist them in assessing the district’s progress.
