Dear Amity Elementary Families & Students
It’s hard to believe the third quarter will be coming to a close in a just a few short weeks! I wanted to take some time to share with you some of the exciting things that have been happening here at Amity, as well as what to expect in the coming weeks.
Amity is excited to announce that we have added two mobile computer labs stocked with Google Chromebooks. These have been added to our already existing two traditional computer labs. We are working hard as a staff to integrate these devices in meaningful ways to enhance the educational experience for all students at Amity.
Fine Arts Night
Please plan to join us next Tuesday, March 11th from 6:00pm to 8:00pm for our annual Fine Arts Night. This annual tradition proves to be a high point for Amity students and their families, an evening filled with musical performances and artwork, all products of our students’ hard work.
I will be hosting a book study open to 30 parents in the community, and I’d love to see you there. We will be reading and discussing the book Stratosphere by Michael Fullan. The book looks at the future of education in light of recent developments in technology, instructional knowledge, and change theory. Our first meeting will be at 7:00pm on March 20th in the multipurpose room at Howard. If you are interested in attending, please RSVP to 891-5995 by March 13th.
OAA Testing Dates
The state has granted us an additional week to complete testing because of the number of disruptions this winter. Here at Amity we will be conducting our OAA testing on May 6th, 7th and 8th. Please avoid scheduling any appointments that may interrupt the school day during those days.
There are many more exciting events going on over the next few months. We’ve been working hard to keep our website updated with current events so check back often! If you ever have any questions or concerns, please call or email me directly. It will be a pleasure to hear from you!
