Camp Kern Update

Camp Kern Update

Today at Camp Kern

Dear Amity 5th Grade Parents & Guardians:

Mr. Smiley went to Camp Kern today and he is happy to report your students are having a wonderful time learning about the great outdoors. However, after he left this afternoon, we were informed the lake will be closed tomorrow. Camp Kern officials need to test the lake for bacteria because some Springboro students developed a rash after their visit to the camp. Many of our students enjoyed canoeing today, so they will be watched for any rashes that might develop.

Channel 12 reported on the story this afternoon. As you may have heard on the news or read online, while the test results are not expected until tomorrow, the Warren County Health Department spoke to Camp Kern about the cleaning methods for life vests.

As always, your child’s safety is our greatest priority. We will continue to stay in contact with our teachers at Camp Kern as well as Camp Kern officials. Should the need arise, we will provide you with an update, but at this time everyone is safe and having a fun time at camp.

Thank you.
