Deer Park Names Eric Taylor New Athletic Director
Former Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy football coach to start Summer 2016
Deer Park Community City School District today announced Eric Taylor as the new Athletic Director and head varsity football coach at Deer Park Jr./Sr. High School. A 1996 Deer Park graduate, Taylor has spent the past eight years as the head football coach at Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy (CHCA).
“I’m very excited about the opportunity to come back to Deer Park, as the Athletic Director and head football coach. As a Deer Park graduate, this community has always been a very special place to me. I’m eager to lead the Wildcat Athletic Department and be a part of building leaders in the school, on the fields/courts and throughout the community,” said Taylor.
While the head football coach at CHCA, Taylor advanced the varsity football team to the playoffs seven times and to the Regional Semi-finals six times. In 2014, the CHCA Eagles were Regional Champions and State Semi Finalists. In those same eight years, Taylor was voted Ohio AP State Coach of the Year (2013), Enquirer Coach of the Year (2008, 2010, 2013, 2014, 2015), Bengals Coach of the Week (2008, 2013, 2014), and MVC Coach of the Year (2014, 2015). Additionally, he helped guide several players to the collegiate level (Div 1, 1AA, 2, 3 and Ivy League) to universities such as the University of Alabama, Virginia Tech, Penn State, and Brown University.
“Not only does Eric bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to Deer Park, but he is also passionate about working with our kids and helping them succeed. I am confident his leadership and enthusiasm will be a tremendous addition to the Deer Park community. I look forward to collaborating with him as both our athletic director and head football coach to take our athletic programs to the next level,” said Dr. Stace Orso, Principal at Deer Park Jr./Sr. High School.
As the new Deer Park Athletic Director, Taylor will work with Dr. Stace Orso, principal at the Deer Park Jr./Sr. High School, and the District Leadership Team to grow the athletic department, encourage more students to participate in sports, and build relationships with the parents and students at Holmes and Amity Elementary. Taylor’s proven track record in his past positions is a major benefit for Deer Park.
“I can’t wait to join the administrators, coaches, teachers, staff, students, and community of Deer Park to continue to build an athletic program that all Wildcats, past, present, and future will be proud to call home,” said Taylor.
Taylor, a graduate of Deer Park High School, holds a Bachelor of Arts in Education from Northern Kentucky University and a Masters in Sports Administration from Xavier University. Before coming to CHCA, Eric served as the Head Football Coach at Finneytown and spent six years as Head Wrestling Coach at Indian Hill and Finneytown. In 2008, he was selected to coach in the SWOWCA All-Star Wrestling match. Taylor and his wife Leah, also a 1996 Deer Park High School graduate, have two children Averi and Cael.
“The vision and plan of action to pursue excellence created from the leadership at Deer Park is remarkable. I’m looking forward to joining the group and getting to work. My family is thrilled to be involved with the community that was instrumental in our growth and development,” said Taylor.
On March 16 at 7 PM, please join the Deer Park community at the Board of Education meeting where the Board will formally approve Eric Taylor as the Deer Park Athletic Director and Head Football Coach.
