Family:
I am single and have two wonderful daughters. Jerica, that graduated from Deer Park in 2004 and Jami who is a National Honors Society member of the sophomore class at our high school.  I also have a terrific granddaughter, Jaelynn, that attends Mrs. Livingston kindergarten class.

Why did you become an educator?
When Jerica began preschool and I started volunteering in her classroom. I found out just how much I love being able to support young children’s learning.  I love watching those “ahah” moments.  And then years down the road, seeing them walk across the stage to collect their diploma.  I have now had the opportunity to teach some of my first students’ children and see what great adults and parents they have become.

What do you like best about Deer Park?
I love the small community feel.  The feeling that it really does take a village to raise a child and this is a great “village”.  Everyone helps each other and knows each other.

What is your favorite Deer Park tradition? Why?
I can’t really say just one.  There are so many that I look forward year after year.  I love our Kindergarten Thanksgiving Feast.  It’s a great way to meet my students’ families.  But I enjoy the ice cream social also.   It’s a nice way to listen to what our fabulous music department can teach our students and talk with community members.

If you weren’t a teacher, what would you be doing?
I don’t really know.  I love teaching so much.  I would have to say I might work with animals. That always sounds fun.

What do you like to do in your spare time?  What are some of your hobbies?
Right now I don’t have a great deal of spare time. You can find me at almost every sporting event watching Jami either perform, cheer or play.

What’s your favorite movie/book/restaurant?
I really don’t have a favorite book or movie.  If I get an extra minute to see a movie or read I like inspiring stories.  And as far as my favorite restaurant, I’m not picky as long as I don’t have to cook.

Favorite quote or personal motto:
Life is not how many breaths you take, it’s about how many times life takes your breath away.
