Now that fall sports are over, winter sports are now going to be taking over at Deer Park, including bowling. The 2016-2017 bowling season is about to be underway. The players all seem excited about the new upcoming season. They’re coming off of a very excited season in which Senior, Troy Bosse bowled his way to state level competition. The team as a whole also made it to the district bowling tournaments last year and are hoping to make it back to them this year also.
Most if not all of the members are ready for the season to start. One of those members is Junior bowling member, Christian Sique.
“I’m very excited to go back to bowling finally, I’ve been waiting for it all year and I’m very glad that it’s time again,” Sique said.
There are also a few new players joining the team one of which is Junior, Andrew Deaton. “I like playing bowling at the alley so I figured, why not give high school bowling a try and see if I like it.” Deaton said.
The team plans to return to the district bowling tournaments by using the returning players from last year and maybe a few new additions to the team.
“I definitely think that the team will have a good year, even though some of the great seniors from last year are gone. We have many returning players that will be better than they were last year, and many new players too,” Sique said.
Also there is a new head coach for the bowling team. Who is filling in for Glen Booth who tragically passed away from heart problems at the age of 30. Players aren’t really familiar with the new head coach yet, but look forward to getting to know him and meet him.
“I don’t really know him yet, but I’m excited to get to know more about him,” Sique said.
Overall the upcoming bowling season is looking to be a good one so be sure to keep the team in mind and check them out as they start their 2016-2017 season.
