Principal's Message

Dr. Stace Orso

Dear Students and Families:

Welcome to the 2017-18 school year! I am the proud principal of Deer Park Jr./Sr. High School. I am headed into my third year and I cannot wait to see the students enter our doors on August 14th! Last year, I came to learn that Deer Park is a unique community of individuals and families who care deeply about the schools. As I enter my third year as principal, I am excited to continue to build relationships with students and families.  I am looking forward to a year of great accomplishments and success! Our commitment at Deer Park Jr./Sr. High School is helping our students succeed in a safe and nurturing environment.

Through my years in education, I have learned that setting high expectations is a key to student success. I will continue to set high expectations for our students, both in the classroom and in the community. Moving into the school year, I do have some advice for students and parents:

Students:

  • Come to school every day ready to learn something new
  • Challenge yourself to be a critical thinker when presented with a problem
  • Build relationships with your teachers and ask questions
  • Surround yourself with positive people you strive to be like
  • Get involved – join a club, try out for a sport, play an instrument, sing, etc…
  • Report bullying and anything you see that doesn’t meet the expectations of Deer Park students

Parents:

  • Communicate with your child(ren)’s teachers
  • Send your child(ren) to school each day, ready to learn
  • Get involved with school activities
  • Talk to your child(ren) and ask questions
  • Report anything that seems out of the ordinary

We are looking forward to an upbeat, exciting school year at Deer Park Jr./Sr. High School. I encourage all students to get involved in something extracurricular. My challenge to the student body is to have 100% of our students involved in something related to Deer Park, outside of the classroom. This small commitment on a student’s part can make the difference between an ordinary school year and an extraordinary school year.

I am excited for the opportunity to welcome our students and families in August. Our partnership in education is essential to student success. If I can be of any assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me at any time. I am committed to the success of Deer Park Jr./Sr. High School.
