Deer Park Lands Seven on 2017 AP Scholar List

Four juniors, three seniors recognized for outstanding college-level achievement

CINCINNATI, OHAP-Logo Deer Park Schools carries a Mission Statement which reads: “To provide ALL students with every opportunity to achieve their future goals.” That statement provides direction to allow its students the chance to chase down their dreams.

For many students, that dream is the opportunity to attend college. Deer Park High School grants students the chance to begin working toward that goal before they graduate, taking Advanced Placement classes in order to earn college credit.

At the top of those classes are AP Scholars, awarded to high school students who have demonstrated outstanding college-level achievement through their performance on AP Exams.

Last spring, seven students in the district—four juniors and three seniors—were awarded for their hard work, earning the distinction of AP Scholar or AP Scholar with Distinction.

What are the Award Levels?
There are many different levels of AP Scholars. These distinctions are labeled based on the performance on AP Exams, of which Deer Park offers 10 tests in varying subjects.

AP Scholar: Granted to students who receive scores of 3 or higher on three or more AP Exams.

AP Scholar with Distinction: Granted to students who receive an average score of at least 3.5 on all AP Exams taken, and scores of 3 or higher on five or more of these exams.
