"I want to awaken the passion and creativity of youth, combine it with the wisdom, experience and insight of elders, and transform our world."
~ Ocean Robbins
Students from Deer Park High School's Jazz Band and Vocal Music program brought the sweet sounds of Count Basie and Barry Mann to life for residents of Amber Park late Tuesday afternoon. Students arrived in their formal performance attire, and brought the residents a poised and polished performance. Many of the residents felt the urge to get up and boogie, while others watched mesmerized by the talented youth performing before them. The experience was one that was shared mutually, as students saw the smiles and pure joy they were bringing to those in attendance. There was a shared sense of youthfulness in the room, as the talents and creativity of one generation brought to life the urge to sing and dance in another.
