Deer Park Volleyball Teams to “Volley for the Cure”

September 29: Fundraising Event for Susan G. Komen

The Deer Park Women’s JV and Varsity volleyball teams invites the community to get involved and “Volley for the Cure!” Our girls know every little bit helps and why not have fun while working for a great cause!? On Thursday, September 29, the Lady Wildcats will compete against the Madeira Amazons while raising money for the local Susan G. Komen Affiliate!

The Volley for the Cure™ website calls the fast-growing program “an amazing phenomenon!” Deer Park Schools definitely agrees with the statement and we hope to make this year’s “Volley” the best yet. According to the site:
The Volley for the Cure™ program continues to grow. Matches are held in all corners of the state, and the idea is being replicated across the nation. To date, over 75,000 volleyball players have participated in Volley for the Cure™. During the 2015 season we surpassed $2.5 million dollars raised to support local Susan G. Komen for the Cure® affiliates in the fight against breast cancer. As participation in the Volley for the Cure™ events increases, so does awareness of this terrible disease and the importance of education for all women and girls.

This annual fundraising event will have split-the-pot, gift baskets for raffle, $12 t-shirts for sale, a bake sale! The games will include the normal concession stand items as well.

History of Volley for the Cure
Volley for the Cure™ was started by two friends in 2006 to bring awareness to breast cancer.  A Volley for the Cure™ match is a regular season high school volleyball match that is designated as an awareness and fundraising match. The goal is to pack the stands with Pink!  Players, coaches, parents and schools are encouraged to get involved!

Fundraising generated through a Volley for the Cure™ event will be donated to the local Susan G. Komen for the Cure® Affiliate, working to save lives and end breast cancer forever by empowering people, ensuring quality care for all and energizing science to find the cures.

Early detection saves lives in the fight against breast cancer. By encouraging early education and awareness for the young women participating in Volley for the Cure™ events, we are working as a community towards the future, and towards a world without breast cancer.
