Dream Big

January 31, 2017

Did you know that there are children all across this city who don’t have a bed to sleep or a pillow to lay their heads on at night? Can you imagine the difficulties of getting a good night's sleep?

Study after study reveal the negative impact a lack of sleep, or poor quality of sleep has on students. Inability to concentrate, fatigue, and hyperactivity are just a few of the many side effects. Children who don’t get proper sleep are much more likely to struggle in school both academically and behaviorally.

Will you help us to change that? By providing a student with a pillow, or a donation toward the purchase of one, you will be taking a step in helping them achieve success. Empower Youth will finish out the Dream Big project by providing each child with their own “cool” pillowcase and a small stuffed animal.

Pillows and stuffed animals (new, not used please) can be donated to Empower Youth’s Dream Big Program during the week of February 6th-10th and before the girl’s and boy’s basketball games on the night of February 6th. They can be turned into Deer Park High School Office or to Ryan Anderson.

Special Offer: Any person planning to attend the Boy’s and Girl’s Basketball game on February 6th are invited to bring a pillow. For every pillow donated, one person will gain FREE admission into the basketball games! Please have your pillow ready as you approach the admission table.
