*IN CASE YOU MISSED IT*
Deer Park's First Men's Choir Day was a GREAT Success!
Students worked with conductors from the University of Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music
Last Friday, October 16, the Deer Park male students grades 6-12 had the opportunity to work with conductors from the University of Cincinnati (UC) College Conservatory of Music. The day kicked off with lunch catered by Subway to which the Deer Park singers and UC conductors were able to get to know one another before heading into a very fun, yet focused rehearsal schedule.
Our choirs worked hard to learn four songs in the span of about four hours to which most of them were able to sing from memory! The improvement of their sound from the start of the day to the end was spectacular! By the time the 6 PM concert rolled around, the young men were singing with confidence and producing a sound that was full--and on pitch. Not only did they sound great but they also looked great in their complimentary Men's Choir Day t-shirt! Deer Park Jr./Sr. High School is definitely looking forward to hosting this event again next year!
All men currently enrolled in Choir, grades 6-12
Students stayed after early dismissal this past Friday to work with Chris Albanese and Dan Blosser from the University of Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music
To learn about the male voice and its changes, to sing with confidence, to be encouraged and inspired to sing with a quality sound, to feel unified with other male singers, and to hear and model after a professional male singing voice!
A HUGE thank you to Dr. Orso, Deer Park Jr./Sr. High School Principal, and Mr. Bergan, Amity Elementary Principal, for allowing the Choir Department to host this one of a kind Men's Day! The Choir would also like to thank the custodians, Subway, Italianette, the building Secretaries, Mr. Langdon (Deer Park Schools Superintendent), the Deer Park Community, and all of the Choir Parents!
Achieving Excellence Together!
