INTERalliance: The Deer Park Chapter
What is INTERalliance? INTERalliance is a non-for-profit business that is designed to connect our local high school students with opportunities to work, collaborate, and network with top local and regional businesses in the Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky area.
Why would students want to participate? The real question is, why would students not want to participate? We are looking for students in grades 9-12 interested in being part of the INTERalliance chapter at Deer Park Junior/Senior High School for the 2014/2015 school year. By being part of INTERalliance, students have the opportunity to attend many different programs throughout the year that will help to build both their college and career readiness skills. Students will have the opportunity to participate in the following camps and programs:
IT Careers Camps at local universities (UC, Miami, NKU, Ohio University).
Paid IT internships for high school juniors and seniors.
TechOlympics Expo which is an annual 3-day college and career expo/conference and inter-school high-tech and gaming competition.
INTERalliance Career Readiness Program which is a multi-year 1:1 mentoring program and workshops to help underserved, underprivileged students be better able to represent themselves and compete in the 21st Century job market.
INTERalliance Math Mentors Program which is a 1:1 student-tutoring-student program, paying top math performers to help struggling out-of-school students at Cincinnati Jobs Corps and around the city.
Super Smart Kids (SSK) which is programming / web development task force managed by the students who deliver projects to real-world clients on a fixed-price basis.
Along with the opportunities to participate in the previously mentioned camps and programs, students will have the opportunity to network with executives from many local big businesses as well as the opportunity to collaborate with some of the top students from many other local area high schools. Many students leave high school with the knowledge to enter college or the workforce, but few leave with the resources of knowing and working with those people who are going to hire them for their first jobs out of high school and college. The opportunity to Network is a critical component that will open many doors for our students and provide opportunities to interact with corporate executives that these students may never have the opportunity to do otherwise.
Through the camps and different internships, students will also have the opportunity to work on teams to solve real world problems that are currently challenging many businesses in the Greater Cincinnati area. Students will also have opportunities to build resume writing skills and interviewing skills through many of these camps and programs that INTERalliance offers.
This is a great opportunity for our students at Deer Park Jr./Sr. High School that your son or daughter should not miss. If you have any questions, please contact Mr. Kevin Casey, Asst. Principal or Ms. Jamie Wagner.
