Parents and Guardians,
As you should all be aware by now, conferences are being held Monday, November 25th and Tuesday, November 26th between the hours of 1pm and 8pm. Over the past two weeks, we have sent information about these conferences home with your child. The conference format this year is going to be much different than from years past. This year your child will be leading the conference and will be engaging you in a conversation about their future academic planning. These conversations will be unique to each family depending on the interests and goals of each individual child. Each conference will be a 1/2 hr in length and will be facilitated by your child's Wednesday CCR x-bell teacher. Our goal is to have 100% student/parent participation in our new College and Career Readiness Meetings!
How To Register For Your Conference: You can sign up for your conference online by clicking on this link http://goo.gl/GNImqv. Please make sure you sign-up for a meeting with your child's Wednesday CCR x-bell teacher. If you do not have internet access, please call one of our office secretaries at 891-0010 and they will sign you up.
What Can I Expect From A CCR Meeting: We have created a model video that will give you a good idea of what you can expect from your child's College and Career Readiness Meeting. You can access this video by visiting http://vimeo.com/78702089 and entering the access code DEER_PARK_2013.
We highly encourage you to participate in your child's College and Career Readiness meeting. It is really important to start thinking about and helping your child plan their future academic path regardless of whether their goal is to attend college, go right into a career field, or join the military. The earlier you are able to have these conversations and begin this planning, the more prepared you and your child will be!
