What's New?

A Message from the Principal

Hello Deer Park Families!

Happy Mother's Day to all of you! I hope you're enjoying a wonderful Mother's Day weekend. It's hard to believe that we're entering the last regular week of school and that we bid farewell to the Seniors this past Friday. With a busy couple of weeks ahead, please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions.

John Vander Meer
Principal
Deer Park Jr./Sr. High School

Building Spotlight

8th Grade Visit to UC

It's never too early for inspiration! Our class of 2028 visited UC this week, toured the campus, spoke with some college students, and enjoyed the rec center! While we know that not all of our students will decide to go to college, we know that UC and other local colleges offer some great certificate, 2 or 4 year programs! Ask your student about this great trip!

Senior Fees

As we approach graduation, we kindly remind all parents to ensure that their senior's fees are paid. It's important to note that students will not be able to receive their actual diplomas unless these fees are settled. Should you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me. Thank you.

Reminder to Unwell Students Leaving Early:

We've observed an increasing trend where students are directly reaching out to their parents or guardians, requesting to be picked up early due to feeling unwell. We want to remind everyone of the correct procedure in such situations. If your child feels sick during school hours, the first step should be to visit the school nurse. Our school nurse is equipped to assess your child's health and make a determination on whether they should remain in school or go home. This decision is made with the student's best interest in mind, ensuring their health and safety are prioritized. After the assessment, the nurse will communicate directly with a parent or guardian to inform them of the situation and discuss the appropriate next steps.

Attention rising juniors and seniors:

If you are interested in preparing for the SAT, sign up for the SAT bootcamp this summer! The SAT is free for all juniors each school year in the spring. Get a jumpstart on some practice! Here's the link to sign up.

See Mrs. Beck for additional questions.
