Deer Park Names Jenna Shepherd Head Softball Coach

Deer Park Community City Schools is proud to announce the hiring of Jenna Shepherd, a 2017 Deer Park High School graduate, as the new head coach of the Wildcats softball program.

Shepherd returns to Deer Park with a strong connection to the program she will now lead. A standout during her time as a Wildcat, Shepherd earned First Team All-Cincinnati Hills League and First Team All-City honors in each of her four high school seasons while playing first base and pitching. In 2015, she was named the CHL Player of the Year and earned Honorable Mention All-State recognition.

“We are thrilled to welcome Jenna back to Deer Park and have her take the reins of our softball program,” Athletic Director Greg Huster said. “Jenna understands what it means to be a Wildcat, and she brings a great combination of playing experience, coaching knowledge and passion for Deer Park. We are excited to see her build relationships with our student-athletes and continue moving the program forward.”

Following her Deer Park career, Shepherd continued playing collegiately at the University of Charleston. After graduating, she began building her coaching résumé, serving for two years as an assistant coach with the Lakota West Jr. High softball program and coaching travel softball for three years.

Shepherd has also worked with numerous athletes as a fielding and hitting instructor, including players within the Deer Park Youth Softball program, allowing her to remain connected to the next generation of Wildcats.

“The Deer Park softball program holds a special place in my heart, and I am honored to return as head coach,” Shepherd said. “I’m excited to bring my experience, leadership and hardworking mindset back to Deer Park and continue building the program that helped shape me into the player and person I am today.”

Shepherd takes over a program she once helped build as a student-athlete and now has the opportunity to help shape its next generation.
