Deer Park Schools Receives Over $800,000 Grant to Enhance Career Technical Education

Deer Park Schools is proud to announce its selection as one of the recipients of the Career Technical Education Equipment Grant Program, spearheaded by Ohio Governor Mike DeWine and Lt. Governor Jon Husted. The grant, totaling $811,600.01, will significantly bolster the school's career technical education initiatives, benefiting a wide range of students across the district.

This program, designed to expand career technical education access statewide, will empower Deer Park Schools to equip its students with up-to-date tools and resources, ensuring they are better prepared for the workforce upon graduation. The funding will be utilized to purchase state-of-the-art equipment targeting our Advanced Manufacturing program at Deer Park Jr./Sr. High School.

"Investing in our schools is an investment into our students' futures," Governor DeWine said. "Allowing more schools to purchase equipment so they can train more students will set them and our state up for success."

Lt. Governor Husted emphasized the importance of staying ahead in a rapidly evolving economy. "We need to invest in the new technologies changing the economy so students are better prepared for their future careers," Husted said.

Mindy Robertson, Director of Teaching and Learning (Grades 7-12) at Deer Park Schools, expressed her gratitude for the grant and its potential impact on students. "This grant will enable us to provide our students with enhanced learning experiences, specifically in the area of Advanced Manufacturing. We have business partnerships with many top companies in Advanced Manufacturing that provide great careers for our students, so we want to make sure they have those skills to be successful," Robertson said.

Through this grant program, Deer Park Schools joins 55 other schools across Ohio in receiving funding totaling over $67.7 million, benefitting an additional 10,345 students statewide.

"Ohio's career and technical education programs are essential to advancing workforce readiness opportunities for students," said Stephen D. Dackin, Director of the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce. "These grants will ensure schools provide dynamic teachings and learning by hands-on experiences for students, giving them the necessary knowledge to succeed."

Funding for the Grant Program was included in the 2024-2025 state operating budget, alongside $200 million allocated for the Career Technical Construction Program.
