K.I.D.S. Walk-a-Thon Set for Thursday, May 2
Keep Improving Deer Park Schools (K.I.D.S.) is excited to announce its annual Walk-a-Thon fundraiser, to be held this Thursday, May 2, 2024, at Harry Yeaggy Family Stadium (rain date of Friday, May 3).
Walk-a-Thon envelopes have already been sent home with students and this Thursday–the day of the event–will be the last opportunity to bring in donations to go towards this great cause.
This event aims to raise funds to support the continuous improvement of Deer Park Schools, with all proceeds going towards various school capital projects. The late Tom Griswald started the initiative in 1997, and the Walk-a-Thon has since become a beloved community event in which all students in grades K-12 participate. This year’s proceeds will go towards helping the district resurface the track located in Harry Yeaggy Stadium.
Since its inception in 1997, K.I.D.S. has raised over $150,000 to support a range of school projects, including technological advancements, campus improvements and athletic facility upgrades. The organization is committed to continuing this tradition of supporting Deer Park Community City Schools and providing students with the best possible educational experience.
"We are proud to honor the legacy of Tom Griswald, who started this fundraiser with such passion and dedication," said Deer Park Superintendent Jay Phillips. "We invite everyone to join us in celebrating his legacy and supporting K.I.D.S. and Deer Park Community City Schools."
