The Amity Weekly Minute: August 25, 2024
What's New
From the Desk of Mrs. Warman
I am thrilled to share that we have had a fantastic first full week of school! It’s been wonderful to see our students settling into their routines and fully engaging with their learning experiences.
One highlight for me this week was visiting our second-grade classrooms, where the students were exploring the fascinating world of totem poles. The teachers did an excellent job of preparing the students with foundational knowledge, which will enhance their understanding as they dive into the upcoming text, Sometimes I Feel Like a Fox. This book will guide our students in learning about the significance of totem poles and the characteristics that different animals represent.
I am eagerly anticipating the stories our students will write and illustrate based on their reading of this book. It’s always inspiring to see their creativity and how they connect their learning to their own lives.
I am looking forward to another great week of learning here at Amity!
Warm regards,
Laura Warman

Cell Phone Policy
We understand that students are starting to get cell phones in the later grades within Amity. Please help us in talking to your student about the following expectations prior to the start of school. This year Amity Elementary students will be expected to turn their cell phones off when they get to Amity in the morning and keep them off until the end of the day. This is a change from last year. We believe this will help eliminate distractions throughout the academic day. Because all students are issued a chrome book at the beginning of the school year there is not a need for students to access their cell phones during the school day for academic purposes. If students need to connect with you during the school day, they are welcome to use the phone in the front office to call you.
