The Amity Weekly Minute: August 27, 2023

What's New?

From the Desk of Mr. Drouhard

Dear Amity Families,

With our first full week under our belt, it feels like we never left. Our teachers and students have been working hard to establish routines and delve into our academics. As a school, we rolled out our "Make It A Great Day At Amity" positive expectations for students K-6. Our teachers shared these expectations, and then Mrs. Warman and I visited every classroom to follow up. We hope that your student has had a wonderful 9 days thus far, with many more ahead. Please don't hesitate to reach out to us if they are facing any challenges. We have a dedicated team of educators here to provide assistance!

Picture Day

No School- Monday, September 4th

Just a reminder that there is no school on Monday, September 4th is observance of Labor Day.

MAP Testing

MAP (Measure of Academic Progress) testing in reading, reading fluency and math will start occurring over the next couple of weeks. We took these tests in the fall as a baseline and will take them in the spring to check progress along the way. This will encompass all of our grades at Amity. This is not a high stakes test, like the Ohio State Tests, but we do always want our students to do their best. These online tests allow us to understand where students are currently in the tested subject area, so that we are better able to tailor how we teach them. I just wanted to keep you informed that this will be occurring in our classes.

Football Veterans Night | Friday, Sept. 1

Next Friday, Sept 1, the Deer Park football team will host Veterans, Military, and First Responders night as the Wildcats take on MVCA at 7 p.m..

We will honor and celebrate First Responders, Veterans and US Military. Area fire trucks, EMS, rescue vehicles, First Responders and the Bomb Squad will be in attendance and have their equipment on hand in a showing for all to see. Italianette is providing pizza for our First Responders, Veterans, Military and their families as we host them and say thank you at our hospitality tent.

All First Responders, Veterans and US Military families will be admitted free. The Hospitality tent opens at 5:45 p.m. and at 6:30 p.m. we begin the ceremony with introductions of all those we are honoring and then the Presentation of Colors.

All community members are encouraged to attend the events and support our Wildcats in action. All tickets are $7 and can be purchased online HERE or at the gate. Any questions, please email Athletic Director Greg Huster at
