The Amity Weekly Minute: February 1, 2026
What's New?
From the Desk of Mrs. Warman
Dear Amity Families,
It was certainly a cold week, but inside Amity our students stayed busy working hard and supporting one another throughout the week.
This week, our 6th grade students have been traveling back in time as part of their study of early humans—and recently, the past walked right into the classroom! Using a digital scan from the Smithsonian Institution, one of our students, J.J. Dixon, and his dad created an incredible 3-D printed replica of a Homo heidelbergensis skull. The timing could not have been better. This hands-on experience sparked thoughtful discussions and curiosity as students connected their learning to a real-world, high-tech application. A huge thank you to J.J. and his family for sharing this amazing piece of history with us.

January was full of learning, growth, and activities across our building, and we are excited to carry that momentum with us as we move into February. Thank you, as always, for your continued support of our students and school community.
Warmly,
Laura Warman

Student Safety Reminder
As we move into the winter months and the mornings become darker, we want to remind everyone to be extra cautious during arrival and dismissal times. Please be mindful of our students walking to and from school and drive slowly when entering or exiting the Amity parking lot. Just a reminder that the main driveway entrance off of Galbraith becomes a Do Not Enter zone after 7:30 AM. This helps ensure the safety of students and staff in that area. Thank you for your continued attention to keeping all of our Wildcats safe!
|
|
Recess During Cold Weather
With a return to colder temperatures, please remember to send your child to school with appropriate outdoor attire for recess. We will be going outside whenever the “feels like” temperature is 25 degrees or above. This gives our students time to burn some energy while getting some fresh air. Our recesses are 20-30 minutes so it is important that our students be comfortable while they are outside.

|
Sick Guidelines Reminder
Cold and flu season is here! Please review our Sick Guidelines to know when your child should stay home—especially for symptoms like fever, vomiting/diarrhea, flu/COVID-like illness, strep throat, pinkeye, and other contagious conditions. If a student becomes ill at school, families will be asked to pick them up.
Thank you for helping keep our classrooms healthy and ready for learning!
