From the Desk of Mr. Drouhard
Dear Amity Families,
It is a special week at Amity Elementary as we celebrate Staff Appreciation Week! We have an amazing staff that works day and night for our students. One of the great traditions that shows how much our students appreciate our staff occurs daily. Each morning as our students enter to start their day, many stop to see their former teachers. They do a quick check to see how they are doing and give a hug before heading to their current grade. The best is when you see the "too cool for school" upper grades make that daily stop. Our students know how great our staff is, and show them daily by these actions. Please join me in thanking our staff for being great every single day!
Thanks,
Josh

Amity Grandparents (Or Special Person) Day
We are happy to host our Grandparents (or special person) on Monday, May 13th-Thursday, May 16th. Please come enjoy a breakfast donut with your grandchild and take in the artwork on our ground floor. Academics will be continuing in our homerooms for students not attending, so they will not be part of the tour. Each grandparent day will go from 8:30-9:00 AM. You must sign up using the sign up genius below by Monday, May 6th to partake. Be sure to list the Name(s) and Grade(s) of each student that will be having breakfast with their grandparent. Please only sign up for one day. We look forward to seeing all of our grandparents at Amity!

Lost and Found
Our lost and found is growing. If you are missing a coat or sweatshirt, please have your child check the lost and found. We have it in the cafeteria for students to see. At the end of the quarter we will take all unclaimed items and donate them to Sandy’s Closet.

Dismissal Process Changes
With a return of nice weather, we understand that there will be changes with how students get home. If your child is going to be a walker vs. their traditional car rider (or vice versa) please let our office and homeroom teacher know. This helps us coordinate within the building of where students will be going. Please feel free to utilize our Amity Attendance email address: amity.attendance@dpccsd.org

Kindergarten Registration Now Open
It's that time again, as we have officially opened Kindergarten Registration for the 2024-25 school year!
In an effort to make this process as easy as possible, we have created a page on our website to walk you step-by-step through registration. This page will serve as your guide for registration.
As a reminder, the Deer Park Board Policy on registering for Kindergarten is that the student must turn 5 years old on or before August 1st.
If you ever have any issues, please do not hesitate to reach out to us at hollander.b@dpccsd.org or daily.d@dpccsd.org. We are here to help!

In an effort to ease and improve communication, we have created a specific Amity Attendance email.
