K-6 Elementary Art

The arts empower children to communicate ideas that words and numbers cannot always adequately express. Our young artists at Amity Elementary and Holmes Primary have the opportunity to use their creative minds to produce wonderful 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional projects in the art room.

Throughout the year, both schools create art and learn about the artists that inspire each lesson. However, we want to make sure our parents and community mark down the dates on which we display the students’ artwork. The Amity Elementary artists prepare all year long for their annual Fine Arts Night—make sure to keep your calendar open so you do not miss all the great artwork! Another big event to mark on your calendar is the Festival in the Woods art show for both Amity and Holmes.

In addition to learning new techniques, our students learn how they can use their art to give back to the community. Last year, Amity’s Art to Remember was a huge success. This is a great fundraiser where families can buy their children’s artwork as keepsakes and the proceeds go towards our Tri-states Veteran’s Honor Flight Program. Additionally, Amity’s Art Club works hard to brighten up the school hallways with paintings and mixed media murals.
As always, feel free to make a stop in the art rooms at Amity and Holmes! Our students’ minds are always thinking outside the box and you never know what they will come up with next.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Hauna Laine
